Chicago-Area Ethnic Congregations Gather for Fellowship
LAKE GENEVA, WI (July 30, 2001) - More than 300 people from seven African-American Covenant churches in the Chicago area gathered at Covenant Harbor for a day of worship and fellowship - the first gathering of its kind at the camp.
Adam Edgerly, a leader in cross-cultural ministry, church planting and evangelism, preached at the afternoon worship service. Edgerly is director of church planting for the Pacific Southwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Three individuals came forward at Edgerly's invitation to make first-time commitments of faith in Jesus Christ.
The day began with a noon cookout and concluded with a box dinner. Participating churches included New Christian Faith Covenant, Calvary Covenant, Atonement Covenant and Gospel Way Covenant, all of Chicago; Community Covenant, Calumet Park, Illinois; Church of Gary Covenant, Gary, Indiana; and New Life Deliverance Church from Rockford, IL.
