University Seeking Director for Youth Ministry Center
CHICAGO, IL (July 12, 2001) - North Park University is accepting applications and nominations for a full-time position as one of two directors of the North Park Center for Youth Ministry Studies, starting on or after January 1, 2002.The center's goal is to develop men and women to effectively minister to youth, their families, churches and communities. The two directors will form the center's administrative team. They will develop educational programs to address a wide range of needs, including workshops and seminars, undergraduate and graduate-level training and field experience, which together serve the needs of students, the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) and the church at large. The directors also will create an adjunct faculty network to help support the center's programs, teach courses at North Park University at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and be involved in student advising and committee work.
The directors will work closely with a governance team comprised of representatives of the sponsoring institutions: North Park University and ECC's Department of Christian Formation. Directors must be committed to a team leadership model. Directors also will regularly consult with the center's advisory board, which includes youth pastors, denominational leaders and staff and faculty representing the sponsoring partners. Directors also will work with university and ECC development staff to seek grant funding.
Qualifications include:
- Record of leadership and accomplishment in ministry with adolescents and families
- Ability to work as a member of a collaborative leadership team
- Ph.D. or D.Min. preferred (master's degrees considered)
- Solid administrative and program development skills
- Good communication skills
- Compatibility with the theology and ethos of the Evangelical Covenant Church
- Excellence as a teacher
- Promise as a contributor to the scholarly community
- Successful fund-raising experience a plus
