Funeral Service Monday for Louise Matson
TURLOCK, CA (July 3, 2001) - Services were held July 2 for Louis Matson, long-time Evangelical Covenant Church missionary to Alaska, who died at Brandel Manor.Matson served the Covenant's mission in Alaska for more than 25 years. Former World Mission assistant secretary Ken Lundell praised Matson's work with children, in particular. "She was well received in our camps with the children," Lundell recalled. "She shared of her family's dramatic escape from Siberia, and it captivated them." Others praised her communication skills.
She was born in Russia and faithfully ministered to Eskimo children in White Mountain, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius.
