HICKORY, NC (June 28, 2001) - Nathan McLouth of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall, Michigan, is making good in his first year of professional baseball, hitting .300 through June 25.

McLouth was an All-State high school player in Michigan before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He spent much of the spring in Florida with the Pirates organization before getting sent to the Hickory Crawdads, a Class-A affiliate of the South Atlantic League.
