Walles to Succeed Robinson as Estate Planning Head
CHICAGO, IL (June 26, 2001) - Chuck Walles will succeed Gilman Robinson as executive director of Covenant Estate Planning Services and president of Covenant Trust Company. The Search Committee and Covenant Trust Company Board of Directors unanimously approved his selection.
Robinson announced last December his intention to retire from his position effective September 1, 2001. Robinson will be recognized and Walles introduced to delegates attending the 116th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) this week.
"We are delighted to announce that Chuck Walles has been unanimously approved . . . to succeed Gilman Robinson," said ECC President Glenn Palmberg and ECC Treasurer Dean Lundgren in a joint announcement.
A graduate of Wheaton College with a major in economics and business administration, Walles joined Covenant Estate Planning Services/Covenant Trust Company in 1991 as an estate planning officer. In that position he was responsible for providing estate planning services to Covenant Retirement Community campuses in Minnesota and Colorado, as well as churches, camps and other ministries of the Central, Great Lakes, Midwest and Northwest conferences of the ECC. In 1995 he was appointed director of Covenant Estate Planning Services and vice president/marketing for Covenant Trust Company. In that position he has been responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of Covenant Estate Planning Services officers and provides oversight for all marketing policies and programs.
"Chuck brings significant strength to this position, including an excellent track record as director of Covenant Estate Planning Services," the joint announcement stated. "He has led the generation of significant new business, has an extensive knowledge of the Covenant and is well versed in the field of estate planning."
Walles and his wife, Darlene, live in Spring Grove, Illinois, and are members of Northwest Covenant Church in Mount Prospect. He will assume his new responsibilities following Robinson's September 1 retirement. Transition work will continue through the summer months.
"Please join us in thanking Gilman for his excellent years of service and wishing Gilman and his wife, Judy, a very meaningful retirement as they move to be near family outside Annapolis, Maryland," Palmberg and Lundgren said. "Also, please join us in congratulating Chuck and wishing him well in his new position."
