Free Online Education Course Part of Seminary Promotion
CHICAGO, IL (June 20, 2001) - North Park Theological Seminary (NPTS) is offering the opportunity for some registered delegate to win a free course as part of NPTS promotional activities scheduled during the 2001 Annual Meeting next week in Chicago.
The course, valued at $1,020, is one of several online distance education offerings at the seminary this year. The successful delegate will have four courses from which to choose: Christian Tradition and Mission, Retreat Ministry, Reflections on Health Ministries or Small Group Ministry.
The school hired one new faculty member this spring, Dr. D. Brent Laytham, who will teach courses in theology and Christian ethics in his position as assistant professor of theology. Laytham earned a Ph.D. from Duke University and is ordained by the United Methodist Church. He served eight years as a pastor to various North Carolina congregations.
The seminary also reports that cash and commitments towards the school's $1.05 million annual fund drive now total $630,000. Among other things, the fund supports the seminary's Presidential Scholarships.
