Salem Covenant Launches $4 Million Expansion Project
NEW BRIGHTON, MN (June 1, 2001) - Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton recently approved a $4 million expansion that will upgrade the fellowship hall and classroom facilities, among other things.
The Open the Gates expansion project has already confirmed $2 million in pledges, with financing from a local bank allowing the church to begin construction. The first phase of the master plan is expected to be completed by May 2002, said Pastor Don Johnson.
"Lay leadership has driven this and it's been a wonderful process," Johnson said. "The surprise has been how natural this has gone."
Salem Covenant Church, which has an average worship attendance of about 700, is situated on nine acres of land in a suburban area of Minneapolis. Plans call for expansion of sanctuary seating from around 400 to 750. The church will commence a second fund drive in Spring 2003 to secure additional funds.
