Former Marin Youth Makes Women's Basketball Debut

PORTLAND, OR (June 1, 2001) - One-time Marin Covenant Church youth group member Erin Buescher made her first appearance in a Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) regular season game, scoring two points as her Minnesota Lynx beat the Portland Fire 82-65 Thursday night.

Buescher, who finished her collegiate basketball career at The Master's College in southern California, played 20 minutes and added three rebounds and two assists before fouling out. She grew up in northern California and attended Marin Covenant Church during her middle school years.

During college, Buescher was a three-time Big West Conference Player of the Year for the University of California-Santa Barbara, an NCAA Division I school. She transferred to The Master's College to refocus her spiritual life and became a small college All-America player there before being drafted in the second round of the WNBA draft by Minnesota.
