New Brighton Covenanter Honored for Service to Youth

NEW BRIGHTON, MN (May 9, 2001) - Rellan Hastings of Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton has been given the "Outstanding Service to Youth 2000" award by the Northwest Youth and Family Service in Roseville.

Hastings makes and repairs wood toys for local Head Start and Early Family Childhood programs. He and his wife, Lila, have volunteered at both organizations for about eight years, according to Salem Covenant's most recent newsletter.

The couple also has helped the local Salvation Army with toy distribution and other projects for 17 years and serves in an area Neighbor to Neighbor gift program to teens through St. Paul Community Service.
