NPU Vikings Split Doubleheader With Wheaton

GLEN ELLYN, IL (May 6, 2001) - Senior pitcher Andy Taylor, whose father once was an associate pastor at Iron Mountain, Michigan's First Covenant Church, tossed a shutout to help North Park University defeat Wheaton College 1-0 in eight innings Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Taylor won his first game of the season by scattering five hits and striking out three. North Park scored an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth in Saturday's opener to win the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game. The Vikings (5-35, 4-17 in the CCIW) lost game two 13-2.
