Memorial Service Friday for Dollie Galter
CHICAGO, IL (April 18, 2001) - A memorial service for Mrs. Dollie Galter will be held at noon Friday, April 20, at Piser Chapel, 5205 North Broadway. Mrs. Galter died Monday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at age 97.
Mrs. Galter and her late husband, Jack, were well known for their generosity that was integral to the development of both the Galter LifeCenter and Galter Medical Pavilion at Swedish Covenant Hospital.
The Galters, married in 1925, gave away more than $100 million during their lifetimes, much of it to Chicago medical institutions through the Galter Foundation, which was started in 1943. The Galters operated successful clock manufacturing and real estate businesses.
Survivors include daughter Lois Joseph, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Grandson Robbie Joseph serves on the board of the Galter LifeCenter.
