Brown Hymnal Society Featured on Radio

CHICAGO, IL (March 27, 2001) - Robert C. Dvorak, superintendent of the East Coast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, was interviewed on nationally syndicated Primetime America radio March 28.

In the taped interview, Dvorak talked about the Brown Hymnal Society, which he started as an occasional weekend event when he was pastor at Winnetka Covenant Church located in the suburbs of Chicago. Dvorak now travels to many Covenant churches to present his unique musical program.

The brown hymnal was a popular Covenant hymnal released in 1931 that served as a worship tool for nearly two decades, replaced in 1950 by a green-cover revision. Dvorak found the weekend sing-alongs tapped a nostalgic nerve in many Covenanters who love Covenant hymnody and who enjoy singing hymns, choruses and gospel songs that are often most closely associated with that earlier period of worship history.

David Oseland, a member of Ravenswood Covenant Church in Chicago, conducted the interview with Dvorak. Oseland is producer of Primetime America, a Chicago-based program that has aired for the past two decades.
