Awards Honor Cromwell Children's Home Video
CROMWELL, CT (March 22, 2001) - The Children's Home of Cromwell has spent 100 years Developing the kind of godly environment that helps children thrive in life.
A video now used by the home attempts to capture the essence of that environment as it shares the Cromwell story. Two major video promotion awards suggest that the video achieved its goal.
Mending the Ways received a Telly Award in the public relations category for outstanding non-network, non-broadcast productions. The New England Society for Health Care Communications also honored the children's home with a Lamplighter first-place award in recognition of achieving the highest professional standards in health care communications. Crane Productions, Inc., located in nearby New Britain, produced the video.
The video was first shown during the 2000 Annual Meeting of the East Coast Conference, according to John Powers, Cromwell's director of community affairs and marketing. The 10-minute video highlights the programs of the children's home and the spiritual influence that makes it unique to the region.
"We were really pleased," Powers said of the production and the awards. "The company we hired knew the importance of the spiritual emphasis for us and they were in tune with the audience we were trying to reach. Both awards came as a surprise to us."
The Children's Home of Cromwell is a treatment facility serving 71 individuals ranging in age from eight to 18 who are unable to live with their families. A special education school called The Learning Center takes in 35 students from the surrounding community.
Assisted by Covenant Ministries of Benevolence of the Evangelical Covenant Church, The Children's Home of Cromwell receives financial support from the Department of Children and Families for the State of Connecticut.
