Thornbloom Interviewed on Primetime Radio Program
CHICAGO, IL (March 21, 2001) - Bob Thornbloom, longtime Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) missionary to the Congo, appeared at 4:30 p.m. (CST) Wednesday on nationally known Primetime America Radio through WMBI-90.1 FM in Chicago, Illinois.
Thornbloom, who returned from the Congo March 12 after six weeks in Africa, discussed the political and economic situation in the province of Ubangi, where ECC missionaries have served for more than 60 years. He also touched on mission development programs the Covenant is engaged in around the Ubangi.
Covenant missionaries and administrators from the ECC's Department of World Mission recently met with Congo Covenant Church leaders in Bangui, which is located just across the Ubangi River from the Congo in the Central African Republic (CAR).
Congo has undergone many national leadership changes in recent months and the country has been in flux both economically and politically. The ECC has been a constant mission presence in the country (formerly known as Zaire). There are currently no Covenant missionaries in Congo, but mission work there has been fruitful in the past. There are approximately 150,000 people affiliated with the Congo Covenant Church.
