State OKs Windsor Park Manor Nursing Center Expansion
CAROL STREAM, IL (March 15, 2001) - Agreeing that additional skilled nursing beds are needed at Windsor Park Manor, the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board has approved a certificate of need for the continuing care retirement community to expand its 60-bed skilled nursing center.
The approval clears the way for Windsor Park Manor to apply for permits and begin construction of a $4 million two-story addition to its existing Torrey M. Johnson Health Care Center. Approximately $3.5 million has already been raised as part of an ongoing capital campaign, with completion of the facility expected mid-year in 2002.
The first floor of the new building will add 20 beds, increasing Windsor Park's capacity to provide 24-hour short-term, long-term and rehabilitative care to residents. The second floor will house a 16-bed assisted living residence for those with Alzheimer's and other memory limitations.
Home to almost 500 retirees, Windsor Park Manor is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located at 124 Windsor Park Drive. It is administered by Chicago-based Covenant Retirement Communities, Inc., on behalf of the Board of Benevolence of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
