Cascade Covenant Breaks Ground for New Facility
NORTH BEND, WA (March 5, 2001) - About 100 people were present as Cascade Covenant Church recently celebrated a groundbreaking service. Construction has commenced on the 13,000-square-foot facility. For a view of the beautiful setting surrounding the construction site, as well as a look at the jubilant participants in the groundbreaking service, visit Cascade project.
Pastor John Jenks expects the facility to be fully operational by early 2002, but is hoping enough of the construction can be completed to allow celebration of Christmas inside the new building. The 300-seat sanctuary, several classrooms and office space will be included in the first phase of the building project. The congregation currently uses a community recreation center located one mile from the new building site.
A three-year capital fund campaign is scheduled to conclude by the end of this month, said Jenks. About $350,000 has been raised. The church is considering continuing the campaign for an additional year. National Covenant Properties provided a substantial loan as part of the $2.1 million project.
