Escalon (CA) Begins Worship in New Facility

ESCALON, CA (January 27, 2001) - Escalon Covenant Church opened a $2.2 million facility January 28 with its first service at the site after nearly six years of fund-raising efforts.

The new 15,000-square-foot multipurpose facility includes a sanctuary, offices and a friendship room. The congregation will dedicate the complex March 4.

Escalon Covenant Church is located 90 miles east of San Francisco in central California. Brian Wiele is the senior pastor. The church, which was founded in 1919, has an average attendance of 230, an increase of 30 from a year ago. The congregation has worshiped in its original building since its founding, according to church staff.

National Covenant Properties, part of the Evangelical Covenant Church with offices in Chicago, assisted with financing of the project. The church will continue its fund-raising effort until October.
