Seminary to Offer Master in Arts in Christian Ministry Degree
CHICAGO (January 17, 2001) - North Park Theological Seminary (NPTS) has added a new Master of Arts in Christian Ministry program to its current offerings, bringing the total number of master's degrees the seminary offers to four."The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry is a ministry degree for students for whom the Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in Christian Education are not possible or not required for their ministry, but who desire theological and ministry training," says Stephen Graham, NPTS dean of faculty and academic life. "We believe that the degree will be particularly attractive to students already in ministry who desire to continue that ministry while working on a graduate theological degree."
The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry is designed to be flexible with basic core requirements in Bible, theology, history and culture, as well as a number of specialization areas including urban ministry, faith and health, leadership/administration, Christian formation, youth ministry, missions/evangelism, community development and congregational care. The degree includes 40 academic credits and 24 field education credits.
Graham said opportunities for dual degrees with the Master of Arts in Christian Ministries are being explored. "We have been in conversation with the Community Development program and hope to explore cooperation with other graduate programs of the university to develop dual degree programs with the MACM."
