Steel Framework Taking Shape for New Library

CHICAGO, IL (August 24, 2000) - Foundation work is complete and the steel framework is taking shape for the new Paul and Bernice Brandel Library and Learning Center at North Park University.

North Park Library Although adjustments had to be made in siting the structure on the property, the construction superintendent reports the project is still scheduled for completion in July 2001, which was the original target date.

Plans call for the exterior of the structure to be completed and the building enclosed some time in December. This will allow interior work to continue through the winter and spring months, according to Bob Dziewiontkoski, project head for general contractor W.B. Olson, Inc. of Northbrook, Illinois.

Wet summer weather caused some loss of construction time. However, the building is expected to be ready for use by the scheduled occupancy date of August 2001, Dziewiontkoski said. Some of the electrical and plumbing work in the basement area has already been completed, he noted.
