Covenant Women Team to Assist in Ecuador
CHICAGO, IL (July 24, 2000) - Seventeen women representing six conferences are headed to Covenant Bible College (CBC)-Ecuador in La Merced, 30 minutes from Quito, as part of an inaugural trip sponsored by Covenant Women Ministries (CWM).
CWM's first short term mission opportunity will last nine days, according to Ruth Hill, CWM executive director. The group will help prepare the new CBC-Ecuador campus for its opening in September.
The group will meet in Miami, Florida, August 11, and form two teams. One will sew window treatments for the buildings. The other team will landscape the grounds. Other activities in Ecuador are scheduled for the group, which will return August 19.
"I had this dream of drawing women from different conferences to form these teams, but wanted it to have a strong ministries aspect, anticipating women's strong desire for hands-on experience," Hill said. "I've been talking about it everywhere I went since I came back from Ecuador in March," she continued. "It's exciting. Some of these women have never traveled overseas."
Hill hopes to expand mission opportunities in the future, including a more focused compassion ministry to women in need called Women Reaching Women. This concept may include ministries in urban settings within the United States, as well as opportunities abroad.
