Minnesota Church to Celebrate 125th Anniversary
KENSINGTON, MN (June 30, 2000) - Kensington Covenant Church is celebrating its 125th anniversary as an Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) with a variety of activities this weekend.
Saturday there was a time of reminiscing and a hymn sing at Pike Lake Cemetery, which was the site of the church until the former building was moved into Kensington in 1956. A time of fellowship followed.
At 11 a.m. today, Northwest Conference Supt. Paul Erickson will speak at the morning worship service and a catered dinner will be served at noon at the church, located on Highway 55 in Kensington. A 2 p.m. anniversary service will follow with a host of former pastors participating.
The 30-member Kensington Covenant Church is located 20 miles southwest of Alexandria, Minnesota, and three hours north of the Twin Cities. The church was known as the Christwalla Mission Church when it began in the spring of 1875 under Rev. Aaron Wallin. Since then, 19 full-time senior pastors have served, along with four interim pastors.
For more information about the church and its 125th anniversary weekend, call pastor David Wallin at 320-283-5146.
