Lopez-Cepero New CMJ Director
CHICAGO (June 6, 2000) - Max Lopez-Cepero, pastor at Berkeley Covenant Church in Berkeley, California, has been appointed director of Compassion, Mercy and Justice (CMJ) ministries for the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), effective August 1.
Lopez-Cepero will serve under the umbrella of Outreach Ministries of CMB, said Harold Spooner, vice president of Outreach Ministries for Covenant Ministries of Benevolence (CMB). Jim Lundeen will continue as associate director for CMJ ministries.
Lopez-Cepero has pastored Berkeley Covenant Church since 1987. He previously served as assistant to the superintendent for city ministry in the ECC's Central Conference (1985-87). He also served as pastor of Lakeview Covenant Church in Chicago at the time, having
shared the position with wife, Helen Cepero, during his tenure there (1981-87).
Lopez-Cepero earned his undergraduate degree from State University of New York. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.
