Swedish Orchestra to Perform in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL (June 5, 2000) - A symphony orchestra sponsored by the Swedish Cultural Society will perform June 17 in Chicago as part of a series of concerts scheduled in the United States.

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Irving Park Lutheran Church, 4100 N. Harding (one block northeast of Irving Park Boulevard and Pulaski Road).

The group, affiliated with the 60-member School of Music and Culture, comes from Partille, Sweden, located near Gothenburg (Sweden's second largest city with an estimated population of 800,000). The group, directed by Roland Flood, has traveled Europe and includes some of the finest high school-aged musicians in the country.

Other concerts are scheduled in Rockford, Illinois, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. For more information about the group and their performance schedule, contact Per-Hugo Kristensson, a North Park College graduate, at 847-825-8408.
