Great Lakes Creates Associate Superintendent Position
HUDSON, OH (May 12, 2000) - Great Lakes Conference delegates approved an associate conference superintendent position during its annual meeting at Hudson Covenant Church. There were 111 delegates representing 39 of the conference's 57 churches.Supt. David S. Dahlberg said the conference executive board will begin the search for a candidate. In other action, Rev. Kenneth Larson, pastor of Farmington Hills Covenant Church in Michigan, was elected chairman of the conference board, replacing Marlene Soderstrom.
Dahlberg also paid tribute to recently retired pastor Don Logue of First Covenant Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the late Harry Swanson, who served 17 years as superintendent of the Middle East and Lower Michigan Conference and later the Great Lakes Conference. Swanson, who died April 27, also served as manager of Covenant Manor in Jamestown, New York.
Oak Grove Church in Lexington, Kentucky, was affirmed by the conference and will be recommended for Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) membership during the annual meeting in St. Paul.
James Gustafson, executive director of the ECC's Department of World Mission, was the keynote speaker.
