Timothy C. Ek Resigns As ECC Vice President
CHICAGO (February, 2000) - CHICAGO - Timothy C. Ek has resigned his position as vice president of the Evangelical Covenant Church following nearly 14 years of service. His resignation was effective February 15.
A letter mailed to Covenant leadership states Ek will continue to serve as director of Covenant World Relief, "maintaining continuity in an office of particular importance to our mission as a Covenant, and one to which he is deeply committed." The letter was signed both by Ek and President Glenn R. Palmberg.
"It has been an honor and a sacred privilege to serve Christ and the Covenant Church as part of its leadership team since August 1986," Ek said. He observed that the new arrangement provides an opportunity to continue to serve the church by devoting attention to a ministry about which he cares deeply.
"I thank God for Tim's lifelong commitment to Christ and to the Covenant, and for all that he has given during his years as vice president," Palmberg said. "We have experienced significant growth in both World Relief and stewardship under his leadership," the president added. "We will now continue drawing on his experience leading our World Relief efforts, while allowing him to explore new avenues of ministry that may open significant doors for him in the future."
Ek graduated from North Park College in 1965 and received a Master's of Divinity degree from North Park Theological Seminary in 1970. Prior to his denominational role, Ek served as associate pastor of Bethany Covenant Church in Du Bois, Pennsylvania; pastor of Good Shepherd Covenant Church in Blaine, Minnesota; and senior pastor of Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, Kansas.
