Midsouth Superintendent Search Under Way
CHICAGO (February 27, 2000) - Nominations and expressions of interest for a position as the founding superintendent of the Midsouth Region are being accepted by the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), according to Gary Walter, executive director of the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism.
The Midsouth Region superintendent will serve as a conference developer, according to Walter. The position was created following development of an action plan by the ECC Executive Board calling for the Midsouth Region to achieve full-conference status at the Annual Meeting in 2001.
As the youngest geographical area of the Covenant, the Midsouth Region has grown to an aggregate attendance of 4,000 since its creation in the mid-1980s. Midsouth churches are located in Oklahoma and Texas with one-third of the congregations reflecting ethnic memberships, primarily Hispanic.
Inquiries regarding the superintendent position should be directed to Walter at the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism, 5101 N. Francisco Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60625; by telephone at 773-784-3000; or by e-mail to ecccge@aol.com.
