General News Reporting

In preparation for launch of a newspaper project in 2000, we are seeking an individual with good reporting and writing skills, preferably with experience on a weekly or small daily newspaper or in electronic reporting. This new, full-time position will report to the executive director of Communication.

Duties include reporting and writing on developments and events throughout the Evangelical Covenant Church, as well as assisting the executive director in building and managing a Covenant correspondent network, working closely with superintendents in conferences and regions. The successful applicant will be a self-starter capable of producing a significant volume of material under deadline pressure.

Production Assistant

Covenant Print Shop has a full-time opening for a production assistant. The position reports to the production manager.

Duties include: process and track copier jobs; operate hydraulic cutter, folding machine and Baum stitcher; operate high-speed copier (Kodak 235); maintain supplies inventory; secondary management responsibility; assist with running offset presses; troubleshoot problems on Kodak 235 and other copiers; and instruct others on use of copiers.

The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented person, well-organized, a self-starter, conscientious, dependable, and a problem-solver. Mechanical skills are desired, as is a willingness to learn. The individual must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, must be committed to quality work and dedicated to customer service, and must work well under deadline pressure. Demands of the job require the individual to be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds of weight. The successful candidate will be a team player and will support Christian ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
