Sudanese Pastor Succumbs to Illness

AKOBO, SUDAN (July, 1999) - AKOBO – One of six Sudanese pastors ordained January 8 by the Evangelical Covenant Church died following a period of illness, Covenant News Service has learned.

Rev. David Mayian Jial died the first week of July. The 53-year-old pastor had been the acting president of the South Sudanese Covenant Church at the time of its organization earlier this year. No additional details were immediately available.

Jial is included in photographs displayed elsewhere on the Covenant website, in a news package that chronicles the historic ordination service.
