Dynamic Worship Concludes 'The Feast'

GREEN LAKE, WI (June, 1999) - GREEN LAKE (WI) – An estimated 1,000 people were on their feet clapping, singing and praying as the first-ever prayer festival, The Feast, concluded Tuesday evening (June 21) at the Green Lake Conference Center, site of the 114th Annual Meeting of the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) that began Wednesday evening.

The Feast The event, which began with a Worship/Concert of Prayer Saturday night, included prayer seminars for youth and adults, workshops on prayer, healing, evangelism and free time for recreation, reflection and meditation.

What he termed "the richness of inter-generational worship and praise" was one of the important characteristics of the event, said Raymond Dahlberg, retired executive director of the Department of World Mission and one of the participants. "Having all of the kids here was marvelous – it loosened up the meeting," Mrs. Dahlberg added. There were an estimated 300 children in attendance, with special programming tailored to their needs also offered throughout the three-day event.

"It will be impossible to measure the effect The Feast will have on individual lives and churches," said Glenn Palmberg, ECC president, who termed the event an overwhelming success.

The 114th Annual Meeting opened with a worship service Wednesday evening. Guest speaker Dr. Tony Campolo, well-known author and educator, challenged the audience with a stirring message on the role of the church in ethnic reconciliation.
