New Covenant Secretary Appointed
CHICAGO (May, 1999) - Rev. Mary C. Miller will begin her duties as secretary of the Evangelical Covenant Church no later than September 1, according to an announcement by Glenn R. Palmberg, president.
Appointed by the Executive Board, Miller, replaces John R. Hunt who resigned earlier this year.
Currently serving as pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson, Indiana, Miller also served as pastor at Bethel Covenant Church in Flossmoor, Illinois; at Faith Covenant Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Miller has been active in a number of areas within the Covenant. She served on the Board of the Ministry, was chair of the Presidential Nominating Committee, and was a member of the Board of Benevolence, where she chaired the Executive Committee. She also chaired the Seminary Committee while serving on the North Park University Board of Trustees.
"I am delighted with Mary Miller's appointment as secretary," Palmberg said in making the announcement. "She has all the right administrative skills and she knows the Covenant from the inside out. I'm also very pleased with the Executive Board's vision in placing a gifted woman in such an important leadership position in our church," the president added.
Miller received a Bachelor Degree in Sociology from Western Illinois University and Master of Divinity Degree from North Park Theological Seminary. She completed two years of study at DePaul College of Law and has pursued a Doctor of Ministry degree from Graduate Theological Union.
