The first time Katherine Choi heard the word mission she was in her second year of college and had just joined a Christian fellowship group.

At one meeting the lesson centered on 2 Peter 3:9. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." In the discussion that followed, the group talked about God's mission to the world. Katherine began to wonder about her role in God's promise.

Soon after this meeting a member in her fellowship group started talking about his interest in becoming a missionary. "I didn't know what a missionary was. I had always thought a missionary was a Jesuit priest with a black robe," says Katherine, "but as he talked I thought, why would this person who was young want to be a missionary?" God had Katherine's attention. As she heard stories about the need for missionaries overseas she began wondering if God was calling her to work overseas.

She says, "I shared with a friend that I was praying about doing mission work. I wanted to be available to God, but was concerned that I didn't have the ability. It just so happened that this friend was already signed up to go on a mission trip and said, 'You should just go.' I felt like it was a word from God and I went." Katherine has now found her role in God's promise. She is a career missionary in France and says, "I continue to learn that God is greater than country boundaries and can extend beyond any ocean."

Has God gotten your attention? Let us help you figure out what to do next.
