Building on a firm, Biblical foundation, David Benner challenges the notion that becoming more like Christ means becoming more like one other. He offers clear, compelling principles for discovering your unique identity in Christ. Not a once-for-all type of experience, but a lifelong journey with the Holy Spirit as guide. Being yourself comes as a gift – through living in relationship with the God who created you. “We are called to live the truth of our uniqueness. Divine creativity has never involved a production assembly line.” This is as fine a contribution to spiritual formation literature as any I’ve seen. The Gift of Being Yourself and Benner’s previous book, Surrender to Love, provide the kind of rich soil out of which spiritual growth occurs.
