Spring 2004 inSpirit – Jazzed by Joy
The Vision of Joy – Lindsay Small. Do we look to pop-culture icons like “Oprah” to tell us how to find happiness; or are we able to look in our hearts and find the true joy of Christ?

The Joy of Drive-through Friendships – Judy Halone. That young man who serves you ice-cream – do you ever stop to think how he’s feeling about his day? Or your service station attendant – does she ever receive a smile of gratitude from you? This author explores the importance of these drive-through friendships to our own well-being.

Ex-patriot Joys – Jill Chelgren. A woman uprooted from her hometown in America and moved to the Netherlands with her husband just prior to September 11, 2001 explores how God brought the joy of fellowship and community to her life.

Sankofa Sincerity – Rose Cornelious. In late 2003, a small group of women from across the country met some sisters in Atlanta for a weekend of exploration and education about the sins of racism in our country. Part of the group then went on to Smithville, GA for a week of hands-on service at the Smithville Freedom Center. What began as a short journey to a new place became a lifetime of inspiration for active reconciliation.

Ata Boye! – Ruth Hill. When the hardships of a country torn by war face you, what is your response? Ruth tells of her recent trip to the country of Congo and what met her there. Her greatest surprise and constant memory? The pure joy of a people who have endured a great trial and come through shining with joy!
